Farmer Awareness Program and Field Day on Hanoi F1 Hybrid Pumpkin Seeds

The Crop Protection and Planting Materials Division successfully conducted a Farmer Awareness Program on the new Hanoi F1 H ybrid Pumpkin variety from 25th to 29th August 2025 at the Dambulla Economic Centre. The program introduced farmers and traders to the unique advantages of Hanoi F1, including its high yield potential, strong disease resistance, uniform fruit size and shape, attractive deep-orange color, and excellent shelf life. With its proven market demand and superior cultivation traits, the variety offers significant opportunities for commercial farming. Participants also received practical guidance on best cultivation practices to maximize productivity and profitability.

Complementing this initiative, a Field Day was held on 26th August 2025 in Galewala, where farmers were able to observe live demonstrations of Hanoi F1 pumpkin cultivation. The event provided hands-on learning and showcased the real-world benefits of adopting this hybrid variety.
