Introduction of the Aflatoxin M1 and Antibiotic Residual Testing Kits.

The Animal Health Division of Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Limited introduced Sri Lanka’s first Aflatoxin M1 and antibiotic residual testing kits. Aflatoxin M1 is a carcinogen (a cancerous substance) that can be found in dairy milk. If cows are fed with Aflatoxin-infected feed, the Aflatoxin B1 in the feed will be converted into Aflatoxin M1 in the cow’s body and released through milk. Antibiotics used in the treatment of cows are released through milk. Antibiotic residue in milk can result in the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The best strategy lies in monitoring these substances in milk before it is consumed by humans. The Raptor Integrated Analysis Platform by Neogen Cooperation USA, which can detect these substances in milk, is therefore a reliable and accurate approach for testing Aflatoxin M1 and antibiotic residuals in milk.
