The Hayleys Agriculture Training School (HATS) recently conducted a one-day practical workshop on Modern Agriculture at the Hayleys Agriculture facilities in Ekala and Seeduwa.
The programme was delivered to 22 Grade 12 and 13 Advanced Level Agriculture and Bio Systems Technology students from across the country, providing them with valuable hands-on exposure to modern agricultural technologies.
The workshop covered key practical areas including:
• Land preparation machinery
• Sprayers and agrochemical application techniques
• Milling machines
• Water pumps
The session was conducted by Mr. Jagath Dissanayake (Manager) and Mr. Kumudika Chathurange (Assistant Manager) of the Agri Equipment Division of Hayleys Agriculture.
This training was arranged following a request by private tutors Mr. Tharindu Wickramasinghe and Mr. Nimesh Nawarathne, with the objective of giving their students practical industry exposure and a deeper understanding beyond classroom learning.
Students were able to observe a wide range of modern agricultural machinery and operate selected equipment, including sprayers, gaining meaningful real-world experience.
